About Josh

Kia ora,

I’m Josh—a registered social worker and the person behind In This Space.

Registered Social Worker | ANZASW Member

I support individuals, couples and whānau through relationship challenges, separation, parenting and the times when life does not go to plan.

I’m not a ‘fluffy’ practitioner. I’m warm and understanding, but I’m also practical, straightforward and willing to respectfully challenge you when it could help. I won’t tell you how to live your life or act as though I know you better than you know yourself.

My background includes social work, family violence intervention, relationship work and facilitating programmes for tāne. My approach is informed by Te Whare Tapa Whā, tikanga Māori and the understanding that wellbeing is connected to our relationships, whānau, identity and sense of purpose.

My role is to listen, ask honest questions and help you make sense of what is happening so you can decide what comes next.

You are the expert. I’ve got your back.

Our Values

At In This Space, our work is guided by five values grounded in Te Ao Māori. These values shape how we create safety, build relationships, and support lasting change for every person and whānau we work alongside.

Ahurutanga-

Creating a place of safety, warmth and comfort that is manaenhancing and promotes Mana Motuhake and control over one’s destiny.

Whanaungatanga-

Building relationships through shared experiences and working together to create a sense of connection and support.

Manaakitanga-

Building shared respect, kindness and care for tangata that attend sessions, their whanau and our community.

Rangatiratanga-

The ultimate goal of “In This Space” is for clients to no longer need the service and create their own space, as the leader for change and growth in their whanau, workplaces and communities.

Kaitiakitanga-

Clients are directed and challenged to be kaitiaki of both their spiritual and physical environments.
